So.maybe that's also an indication that the OEM bearings are not sealed since they have separate seals. Īlso, I just now looked at the parts diagram on John Deere's parts web site and I see a separate seal above a bushing that sits on top of the bearing on the top side of the spindle and a separate seal on the bottom side of the spindle below a washer (washer is below the bearing on the bottom side). ![]() I did find this image of the bearing and if this truly is an accurate photo of the bearing (you know how that goes.maybe it is, but I don't know).then that's a good sign since as you can see it's not sealed and 'over-greasing' wouldn't be an issue. Like I said, I looked and looked online and don't see any good photos that would show me and I think I'd have to take the spindle off the mower to really get a good look at it, which I don't really want to do since it's new. I can't imagine why anyone would ever build something like this that's greaseable with no way to let the extra out. ![]() I'm really hoping it has a way to let the extra out with no damage. I don't want to put too much grease in by accident. It's the pressure relief I'm most interested in learning about. I'll also try to get an answer from my dealer about this since they would of course have mechanics that have had these apart many times. ![]() You see the grease fitting on one side and on the OTHER side there's a release that let's any extra grease out so you don't 'over-grease' it. Check out this replacement spindle assembly for an eXmark. Here's an example of what I'm talking about. I don't want to over-grease the spindles and blow out the bearing seals if there's no release that lets the extra grease out. Is there a grease release on the spindle somewhere out of sight, perhaps under the cone that goes over spindle? Again, I can't find any info on this and don't see any good photos that would tell me. It's not a totally sealed bearing is it?Ģ. Are the bearings 'greaseable', meaning the side that faces the inside of the spindle open so that when you add grease, the grease actually gets inside the bearing. On the most recent John Deere 7-iron pro decks (2016 in my case) I know there's a grease point on each spindle (at the top of the shaft), but my questions are (please don't speculate because I've already searched online for photos and other info.just interested to know if you have personal experience with seeing the inside of these when they're taken apart and know for sure).ġ.
